Marseille's Remedy Oil can be used by diluting a few drops in a carrier oil and applying topically to the skin. In a diffuser, it can be diffused into the air to help purify and protect against airborne germs and bacteria. Diluted in bubble bath, liquid soap or shampoo, it can be added to a bath by dispersing under running water. The oil can also be added to a diffuser necklace or bracelet to enjoy the benefits on the go.
Marseille’s Remedy is used in Aromatherapy to help relieve colds/cough.
Use one drop of Marseille’s Remedy once a day in a teaspoon of honey or apple cider vinegar. Marseille’s Remedy is an excellent source of antioxidants.
Marseille’s Remedy can be used topical to relieve help relieve joint, muscle pain associated with sprain & strain, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Topical Inhalation: Marseille’s Remedy is used in Aromatherapy as an antispasmodic for symptomatic relief of digestive discomfort.
Adults/Oral: Take 1 drop 1 time per day. Dilute 1 drop (0.05ml) of Marseille’s Remedy in 1 teaspoon (5ml) of honey or apple cider vinegar and consume orally or as otherwise directed by a health care practitioner.
Adults/Topical: Combine 1 drops of Marseilles Remedy with 1 tsp drops of carrier oil, and massage into skin, muscles, or joints.
Adults/Inhalation: For cough and cold, apply 2 to 6 drops undiluted product to a handkerchief/tissue and inhale. Alternatively, diffuse in boiling water or in an essential oil diffuser.

Marseilles Remedy Oil is safe for most adults but due to the Eucalyptus content, should not used with children under the age of six. As with all essential oils, Marseille's Remedy Oil is potent and should be used diluted and cautiously. It is important to do a patch test on a small skin area before using. This oil should not be used during breastfeeding or pregnancy.
Vinaigre De Marseilles

Ingredients: (You can play with this, there are no rules really, just do what tastes right to you)
- 25 drops Marseille’s Remedy Essential Oil
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 clove garlic pressed
- Whatever other herbs are on hand
Steep for a week in the fridge. 1 teaspoon per day is magic!
Marseille’s Spiced Brandy
A fantastic way to spice up your favorite brandy. It’s as easy as one to three.
- One drop Marseille’s Remedy in one teaspoon of honey
- Put several ice cubes in a glass and drizzle the Marseille’s honey over the ice
- Then add one to two ounces of your favorite brandy
As the ice melts and the Marseille’s honey slowly blends with the brandy, your drink is an ever changing experience of spicy sweet flavors.
Homemade Marseille’s Remedy Oil Spray Cleaner Recipe:
Time: 5 minutes
Amount: 1 liter
The basic idea is to simply add between 30 drops of your Marseille’s Remedy oil to a combination of vinegar (or vodka) and water.
Feel free to experiment to see what works best for you. Make sure you know your basic chemistry before you experiment too much, though. This article gives some great advice for staying safe while making your own cleaners.
Ingredients:
- 500 ml base:
- Distilled white vinegar
- Vodka
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Distilled or RO water
- 30 drops Marseille’s Remedy oil
- 15 ml lemon juice (you can leave this out)
Instructions:
Combine the base, water, essential oils, and lemon juice in a shaker bottle and shake to combine.
Add to a spray bottle and keep refrigerated when not using. It should last up to three weeks.
Marseille’s Remedy Dish Soap Recipe:
Time: 7 minutes
Amount: 1 literThe basic idea is to simply add between 30 – 60 drops of your Marseille’s Remedy oil to one cup (250 ml) liquid soap. However, depending on your requirements, you can tweak this recipe a bit to make it your own:
Ingredients:
- 250 ml base liquid soap:
- Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap – classic
- Dr. Bronner’s Sal Suds – a non-soap but environmentally friendly alternative
- Any unscented liquid soap
- 30 – 60 drops Marseille’s Remedy oil
- 15 ml thickener:
- Washing soda – this is sodium carbonate and needs to be used with caution. It can be an eye irritant and can irritate the skin as well. Here is the entire MSDS. It’s a common ingredient in laundry detergent and in the small amount you may use to thicken and boost the cleaning power of your dish soap, it should be barely noticeable. But while adding it to your soap and storing this, please use caution.
- Finely grated Ivory (or other basic) soap.
Instructions:
Combine the liquid soap, essential oils, and thickener in a large pot on the stove. Add 3 cups (750 ml) very hot water to the mixture and stir (whisk) until combined.
Let the dish soap cool and you are ready to use your newly handmade sanitizing dish soap.

- 4.8 ounces of 99% rubbing alcohol
- 3 ounces pure water (we suggest RO water)
- 5 ml Marseilles Remedy Oil

Can be used on hands and surfaces.In 1413, as the bubonic plague decimated France, a group of merchant sailors were arrested for robbing dead and dying plague victims – a crime punishable by burning alive. The judge offered them leniency for their terrible crimes if they would share the secret which enabled them to expose themselves to the plague without contracting it.
The sailors explained that they were spice merchants who were unemployed due to the closure of France’s sea ports. They had prepared a special herbal infusion which they applied to their hands, ears, feet, masks, and temples and this protected them from infection. As promised, the judge did not burn the men alive – he hanged them instead. Soon after, plague doctors began to wear beak-like masks stuffed with absorbent material soaked in the sailors’ blend to protect them from disease.
The sailors’ original blend, containing vinegar and garlic, was known primarily as Vinaigre de Marseille. This formula was marketed by medical suppliers as the first line of defense for hundreds of years, and has been a staple of pestilent prevention in every plague since its formulation. Help detangle hair and repel lice naturally
Time: 3 minutes
Amount: ½ cup
You’ll need a spray bottle, some water, your favorite conditioner, and Marseilles Remedy Oil. All you’re going to do is combine these ingredients and spray on freshly washed, wet hair. Easy:

• 1 Tbsp hair conditioner
• 10 drops Marseille’s Remedy oil
• 100 ml of water
Instructions:
Combine the water, conditioner, and 10 drops Marseilles Remedy Oil in a spray bottle and shake gently.
Marseille’s Remedy Natural Mouthwash Recipe
• One teaspoon of filtered apple cider vinegar (white vinegar works well too)
- One (or two) drops of Marseille’s Remedy thieves’-style oil
- A little warm water
- Swish and gargle for ten seconds. Simple and natural!
Marseille’s Remedy Natural Toothpaste Recipe
• 1/2 cup (120 ml) of coconut oil
• 2-3 tbsp ( 30-90 ml) baking soda
• 15-25 drops Marseilles Remedy thieves-style Oil
Optional
• 2 tsp ( 10 ml) Xylitol
• 1sp ( 5ml) sea salt
• Charcoal (open up a charcoal pill and mix in as desired)
Instructions:
• Melt or slightly soften coconut oil
• Mix solid ingredients, adding Marseille’s Remedy last
• Stir well
